Things you need to understand about stairlifts
How much does your stairlift cost to run?
**Updated inline with latest news**
We are all feeling the pinch with the recent increase in energy prices around the UK, and itss clear that everyone is mindful about their energy uses and trying to keep everything turned off or limited usage to reduce their bills each month.
Here at carelift services we want to rest your mind on how much running a stairlift will cost, and give you some real life situations to show how little it can cost to run a stairlift.
One of the questions we get asked daily is if the stair lift we install will have high running costs, but we are happy to report that all our stairlifts are built with modern technology allowing them to run more energy effective and cost efficient.
On average the cost of running a stairlift is around £3 a month, which is like boiling a kettle for 6 minutes each day, i.e so boiling the kettle each day for 3 cups of tea ( and biscuits).
Based on average running costs and electricity prices supplied by Citizens Advice as of October 2022.
How does a stairlift work?
Most stairlifts use a combination of battery and mains power and contain two rechargeable 12 Volt (v) batteries that are continuously charged through parking or charging points at the top or bottom of the stairs where the stairlift will stop and charge. Leaving it off of these charging point for long periods of time can decrease your stairlift battery life.
When will I need to replace the batteries?
Stairlift batteries should last around 2-5 years before they need to be replaced. We also offer servicing on existing batteries and they are quick and easy to remove and replace.
All of our batteries are covered with a 2-year warranty and are fitted by our experienced team of stairlift engineers. To find out more about replacement batteries, contact us
If there is a power cut, will I be able to use my stairlift?
