Can My Walls Be Damaged by a Stair Lift?
While some people might be concerned that installing a stairlift could harm their home's floor or walls, this simply is not true... Since stairlifts are mounted directly onto stair treads, installing one won't harm a home's walls. For stair lift installation, a track is placed on brackets to the wall, keeping the stairlift rails raised from the stairs. Typically, our stairlifts employ 2-4 support brackets using (4) 3/8" screws in order to keep the stair lift firmly on the stair treads.
Will removing a stairlift leave damage to my walls or floor?
You may wonder, 'Why don't I just remove the stairlift myself?' Though this is a possibility, if you are not a skilled and experienced expert, you may cause damage to the stairlifts and rails (which may not be a huge issue), as well as walls, plasterwork, decorating, and fixtures in your home.
Our installation engineers ensure that the stairlift is discreetly mounted on the stairs, so that when the stairlift is removed by one of our professionally trained specialists, it will almost appear as if the item never existed.
Will removing a stairlift damage my carpeted floor?
If a stairlift is being removed from carpeted steps, the bracket locations could leave marks behind. Over time, though, vacuumingand/or washing the carpet may help the markings. Like what you may anticipate seeing after removing a piece of furniture from a long-standing carpet.
Will removing a stairlift damage my wooden floor?
If your stairs are made of wood, you can use any regular wood filler to seal the holes left by the brackets and railing.
Will removing a stairlift damage my concrete floor?
The screw holes can be filled with concrete filler, just like wood stairs.
Whatever the type of stair surface in your home, a stair lift won't harm the stairs, even if it could leave little stains on the treads that can be filled in and/or cleaned.
