Stairlift Common Questions

1Stairlift Prices: How Much Do Stair Lifts Cost ?
Carelift Services new stairlifts start from around £1650, our reconditioned stair lift stating costs of £900 for a basic straight manual stairlift, including installation and 1 year warranty.
2Stairlift Lift Cost: What Effects the Cost of Stair Lifts ?
The price of stairlifts in the UK depend on the type of stairlift you require, the shape and size of your staircase and the condition of the reconditioned lift. Other factors that will change the price of a reconditioned stairlift include, the model, brand, type and length of the track, straight and curved models, as well as any additional features and specifications that you may need to improve the stairlift’s functionality.
3Stair Lift Rental Costs : how much will it cost to rent a stairlift ?
Carelift Services also offer a rental service of some of our straight reconditioned stairlifts. Renting is a more economical option if you need the reconditioned stairlift for a set period of time such as if you’re recovering from a surgery or an accident. It can also come in handy if the user is not planning on remaining in the property in the longer term. There’s usually an initial fee which for our reconditioned stairlift rentals is £250, which covers installation, removal, replacement parts, and other servicing costs during the contract period. You’ll also be required to make monthly payments for the duration of the contract. Carelift services rental costs are £50 per month, with a minimum of 1 month contract. This is considerably cheaper than buying a new or reconditioned stairlift
4How Long do Stairlift Batteries Last?
If you have a stairlift with a DC battery, then these will generally last around 2 to 5 years; of course, this depends on the usage. For example, if the stairlift is often left off its charge point, it reduces battery life. The batteries included with our DC stair lifts are rated for 3,200 cycles. A "cycle" is a one-way trip up or down the stairs, so a round trip up and down the stairs is considered two separate cycles. If you make one round trip up and down the stairs every day (two cycles per day). At this rate, the batteries will last over four years averaging 730 cycles a year If you make two round trips with your stair lift each day, he batteries will last a little more than two years, your stair lift is doing 1,460 cycles per year. If you make three round trips per day, expect the batteries to last about a year and a half. If you make four or more round trips per day, expect the batteries to last one year or less.
5Is There Such a Thing as Free Stairlifts for Pensioners?
In short no, as most stairlifts are installed by private companies, there are no government funded options to get a fully free stairlift for pensioners, however, whilst you may not get a free stairlift, there are specific savings and government grants that can help to support with the cost of installing a stairlift. The Disabled Facilities Grant If you think you may need help with paying for a stairlift, you might ask can I get a grant for a stairlift?. The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) allows you to apply for funding for home adaptations.
